Warranty Information

About Our Warranty

What You Can Expect From Us

If your purchase fails within the warranty period, our simple policy is this:

  1. If there’s a fault due to material defects or faulty construction or assembly that can’t be fixed in a reasonable amount of time, Dirt and Sea will replace the defective product like for like. If for some reason we are unable to do that, we will either offer you a similar alternative product, refund the original purchase price, or offer you store credit toward another product. Your choice. We will also cover the cost of shipping the repaired or replaced item back to you.
  2. If the fault is minor, we’ll either fix it or replace the item at our discretion and ship it back to you at our cost.

The warranty starts from the date of your purchase and concludes at the end of the stated warranty period, regardless of any repairs or replacements made during the time the warranty is in effect. In short, a warranty claim does not re-set the warranty period.

What is not covered under Warranty

Dirt and Sea won’t repair or replace faulty items in the following circumstances:

  • When damage or defects are caused by misuse or abuse, accidents or collisions, incorrect installation, wiring errors or wiring failures,
  • When products have been modified or show evidence of tampering or disassembly,
  • If damage was caused by connecting the lights to incorrect or excessive voltage,
  • If damage was caused by, or resulted from, an act of nature (flood, fire, earthquake, cyclone etc.),
  • If damage was caused by incorrectly or negligently operating the product (e.g., overheating by turning the lights on with the covers installed for extended periods),
  • Reasonable cosmetic wear and tear,
  • Where damage or failure was caused by chemical exposure or high salinity in extreme environments.

PLEASE NOTE: Our lighting products are powder coated using high-quality UV resistant Axalta polymers and can be expected to retain their colour and protective properties for many years in most normal automotive and marine usage scenarios. Some chemicals can damage both the powder-coated surfaces and the super-tough Lexan polycarbonate lenses used in our lights. We recommend cleaning Dirt and Sea lights with normal ph neutral car or marine wash products on a regular basis to remove dirt, mud, grime, salt and other contaminants, as this will prolong the life of the equipment and keep it looking good. You should always avoid using harsh chemicals as some cleaning products and solvents may cause polycarbonate to whiten or yellow or become brittle, resulting in hazing or small stress cracks. It could also damage the powder coating.

Care must be taken to avoid the use of acetone, ketones, ethers and aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, in addition to aqueous or alcoholic alkaline solutions, ammonia gas and its solutions and amines. NEVER use solvents or petroleum-based cleaners on your lights.

If in doubt, use a ph neutral wash as some heavy-duty car and truck washes contain some of these chemicals, as do Rain-X and other similar glass waterproofing treatments.

What We Won't Accept Liability For

Subject to the provisions of Australian Consumer Law, Dirt and Sea will not accept any liability to the purchaser or any other party for:

  • Any consequential, incidental, indirect, punitive, or special exemplary loss or damages arising from defects in or failure of the goods, or loss, injury or damage due to their misuse. This exclusion includes any claims for death, injury, loss of profits, loss of property, property damage or any other economic injury.
  • Any expenses incurred during the use of the product, or any expenses related to installation, troubleshooting, removal or re-installation of a product which may require return for repair or replacement
  • Any packing, handling or shipping costs associated with returning a product to Dirt and Sea.

HOW TO RETURN A FAULTY PRODUCT

Before returning a product under warranty, please complete the online Warranty Return Request form by clicking the button below. The information in the form will allow us to properly evaluate the issue and advise you on what to do next. Be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Your name and contact details
  • The order number from the original purchase
  • A description of the problem. Please be as detailed as you can
  • Photos or videos showing the fault (optional but they really help)
  • A description of any troubleshooting you have done (if any)

Once we’ve received the information, we’ll get in touch to outline the next steps and to provide a Return Authorisation Number (RAN) if we can’t help you solve the problem over the phone.

PLEASE DO NOT RETURN A PRODUCT TO US BEFORE OBTAINING A RETURN AUTHORISATION NUMBER.

Customers will be required to pre-pay the return shipping, however we will reimburse you for reasonable shipping costs for a successful warranty claim.

Upon return receipt of items for warranty claim, you can expect Dirt and Sea to process your warranty claim within 7 days.
